The five principles for multi-agency collaboration in Working Together 2023 can be adapted for strategic partnerships between employers, educators, and training providers.

  • collaborate: social work employers and education and training providers develop a shared vision for working together to meet shared goals.
  • learn: leaders develop and use evidence from direct practice in their area to evaluate what is and is not working well for children and families
  • resource: leaders are ambitious about building social work professional development routes that will work effectively within their local communities and prioritise and allocate resources accordingly.
  • include: leaders create an inclusive culture where diversity is understood, diverse needs are supported, and discrimination is challenged.
  • mutual challenge: leaders hold each other and their teams accountable and are themselves held accountable by their teams for the quality of the practice education partnership working.

The resources have been developed by Research in Practice in collaboration with DfE.
